Old value:: Advertising is restricted and has to carry strong warning messages.
Current: Advertising is restricted and has to carry strong warning messages.
Proposed: Advertising is banned.
Article 2
Proposal[?] to change Government policy on subsidising contraception.
Old value:: The government subsidises a considerable discount for contraceptives.
Current: The government does not supply free or discounted contraceptives.
Proposed: The government offers free contraceptives in pharmacies and public toilets.
Article 3
Proposal[?] to change Government policy towards smoking.
Old value:: Smoking is legal everywhere, at the discretion of the property owner. However, service/employer property owners that allow smoking must provide a separate non-smoking section.
Current: Smoking is legal outdoors and in private homes and clubs, but illegal indoors in all places of employment.
Proposed: Smoking regulations are to be determined by local governments.

Message | We are sympathetic to this bill, however, we do not agree with Article 1. While we do agree that unregulated advertising is risky, we are unsure as to how public awareness of certain medications may be spread if all forms of advertising them are bamned. We will tentatively vote yes, but we may make an alternate proposal addressing that component of this bill should it pass. |
