Bill: Addressing a Diplomatic Issue with Baltusia
Details
Submitted by[?]: Progress Party—The Greens
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 4326
Description[?]:
It has become known to us that our President Mannan Khan sent a disturbing and threatening message to one of our allies in the Seleyan Union, Baltusia, threatening to kill their citizens resident in Kalistan. While President Khan is not running in the upcoming elections (OOC: The NUP is inactive now) this has created a diplomatic crisis that our government and National Congress must act to mitigate and assure Baltusia, the international community, and foreign citizens resident in our nation that we are fully committed to human rights and the rights of foreigners in our nation. http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=551238 (OOC; This is a link to the discussion on the Baltusian legislature on this issue. I’m startogn this as a discussion on how to proceed forward). |

Message | The Progress Party—The Greens moves that we officially censure President Khan’s comments and we urge that the Minister of Foreign Affairs and whoever becomes the new president after our next elections officially apologizes to the Baltusian government and people for his comments, and clarifies our stance on the rights of foreign citizens in our nation. — Jessie Nathan MP, Leader of the Progress Party—The Greens |
Date | 19:50:30, December 26, 2017 CET | From | Kalistani Union of Democratic Socialists | To | Debating the Addressing a Diplomatic Issue with Baltusia |
Message | We absolutely support starting a discussion and apologizing to Baltusia. Those comments are unacceptable and we need to make clear that the government of Kalistan doesn't back up the NUP's words. |
Date | 21:09:43, December 26, 2017 CET | From | Democratic Movement | To | Debating the Addressing a Diplomatic Issue with Baltusia |
Message | The KDP supports, and expects all parties to support an apology. We must make it clear to Baltusia that the NUP was a right wing nationalist party whose positions do not exemplify the people of Kalistan. |
Date | 19:41:36, December 30, 2017 CET | From | Progress Party—The Greens | To | Debating the Addressing a Diplomatic Issue with Baltusia |
Message | I’m going to put this to a vote to clear this up, a vote for us assumed to mean a vote against the comments of the NUP president and a reaffirmemnt to our commitment to the rights of foreigners in our country. |

Message | *A vote for it |
Date | 16:15:51, December 31, 2017 CET | From | Kalistan National Front | To | Debating the Addressing a Diplomatic Issue with Baltusia |
Message | Whilst we agree that the comments in question were wrong morally and legally, we should not have to apologise for something we didn’t do! The president at the time was speaking on behalf of his opinion and the opinion of his party. We must distance ourselves and the position of the government as far away from that man as possible but this is not the right way to go about it. |

Random fact: Any RP law granting extraordinary "emergency powers" or dictator-like powers to a government must be passed by at least a 2/3rds majority, but (like all RP laws) may always be overturned by a simple majority vote of the legislature. |
