Description[?]:
With this bill, we aim to re-nationalise the industries which were privatised under the legislation of the FNB and re-institute protections against capitalist exploitation. It is important to note that the economic structure of Solentia is not the same as that in many other nations. All businesses and industries are run and administered by the Democratic Workers' Councils. The workers themselves as well as their communities possess direct democratic authority over ownership and production. The democratic nature of these councils ensures that companies are beholden to both their workers and to the general public and facilitates the presentation and sharing of innovative ideas. Nationalizing them would ensure that they are being held to universal standards of quality and safety and unite the presently disparate systems of the Councils and the national government to ensure adequate national representation of the public's interests. Nationalization will not prohibit innovation or adaptation but rather, when combined with the present structure, aid it and allow innovation to spread to the national level while maintaining and enforcing necessary production quotas (as dictated by the people and their professed needs) and quality levels. Additionally, nationalization will help to improve national coordination of localised businesses should it be necessary. They are already sufficiently localised such that they may provide the necessary products and resources to their communities at the behest of their constituents. Nationalization would help facilitate the spread of such products and resources nationwide and allow the state to better monitor and manage the national economy should such management be necessary. This is especially important to the industries addressed by this bill, as they are critical not only to local communities but to the whole nation. |

Message | I'd like to hear more information on the position of Nationalization of industries such as these. The issue is admittedly not my strong point, though I have an education in private business. It's my understanding that privatized industries promote competition, innovation, serve to increase the GDP and collected corporate tax amounts, and generally can be run more efficiently than our government could run them. I'm open to any education on the subject. |

Message | My thanks to the WPS for the education. Democratic Workers' Councils are clearly the lens I was missing to view these issues through. After some quick cursory research, it is seeming to make sense to me now. It would also be the explanation as to why we do not have a public stock exchange. I commit myself to further research, and I assume these systems have a long history for the benefit of Solentia. Economies are fragile. At this time I would not want to oppose what is known to work well for the sake of ideology without a deeper understanding than I'll be able to obtain within this legislative term. |
