Bill: The People's Diplomatic Immunity Abolishment Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Solentian Secular Realist Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 4326

Description[?]:

Diplomatic Immunity places certain foreign nationals above the law relative to our citizens while they are within our borders. Members of the legislature are not exempt from any civil or criminal liability for their speech or actions during their term of office, so why should foreign nationals be exempt from criminal liability? There are a number of countries where you can effectively buy citizenship and there is a danger that a wealthy person could purchase a diplomatic passport simply to achieve diplomatic immunity.

A journalist recently polled citizens of the Solentian Social Republic regarding their opinion on the government's policy concerning diplomatic immunity. From The Solentian Social Republic Daily December 4324: http://classic.particracy.net/viewnews.php?newsid=597376&nation=42

For the reasons above and to institute the will of the People, we RESOLVE to ABOLISH diplomatic immunity.
