Message | Mr Speaker, It is a sign of the levels to which decorum has fallen in this house - and indeed this nation - that the representative of the Popular Progressive Party cannot even bring himself to properly discuss the merits of a mundane piece of legislation in a decorous or even coherent way. Instead, he must shout out single syllables into the void, offering no opinion of his own but merely incredulity. WHY? he asks? Allow me to elaborate. It is the view of our party - the party which received the majority of votes in the recent election and won every region - that people should be trusted to make their own decisions. It is a principle of ours that unless an issue is critical to the nation, then it should be devolved as far as possible to the local or regional level. Local people make the best decisions for local issues. That is WHY we propose this bill and why it will pass. WHY? I might ask, does he oppose this issue? I yield the floor to the Right Honourable Gentleman. |
