| Mr Speaker, It is my duty to make the house aware of certain worrying claims made by the Foreign Minister of the United Republic of Kalistan. The honourable minister claims that there are Pontesian spies operating in Kalistan. Needless to say, we take this sort of accusation very seriously and are investigating urgently. | Message | Mr Speaker, It is my duty to report that, following an extensive investigation in close cooperation with our colleagues in Kalistani intelligence, we have identified those responsible for the illegal actions in Kalistan. Our brave security forces have this evening made three arrests here in the Pontesian capital city. I am pleased to report that our intelligence service and the Kalistani intelligence services are in firm agreement that the illegal actions were in no way connected with the official government of Pontesi. However it is my sad and grave duty to inform you that our investigation provides clear and incontrovertible evidence that senior members of the UNITED COMMUNIST PARTY OF PONTESI have been involved in a wide scale bribery and corruption case in which they attempted to buy the favour of certain individuals in Kalistan in order to support their illegal plan for an armed uprising here in Pontesi. I wish to make clear at this point that there is no suggestion that all members of the Communist Party of Pontesi are culpable, nor that the party itself involved itself in illegal activity - although our investigations are ongoing. We have arrested two individuals this evening based on charges of fraud, money laundering, funding international terrorism and treason: - Mr JACKSON DUNCAN, leader of the United Communist Party of Pontesi and the ringleader of this conspiracy - Mrs JULIA DUNCAN, his wife, who was also - based on telephone intercepts - intimately involved in the conspiracy to overthrow our government and bribe members of a foreign party We have also arrested MISS AMELIA TAMAYAN, a junior member of the administrative staff in our intelligence service who we believe assisted Mr Duncan by providing secret information after they began a romatic affair. This investigation is ongoing and we are questioning the subjects in a secure location at this time. We have received a request from the Kalistani government to extradite these three individuals to stand trial in Kalistan for their crimes there. On that basis, we have no choice but to accept the reasonable request of the Kalistan government and accept their request to extradite them for trial for their crines in Kalistan. Mr and Mrs Duncan were sent to Kalistan aboard a military plane this evening. Given her junior role in the conspiracy Miss Tamayan will remain here in Pontesi to stand trial. |
