Bill: UNPK: National Unity Act (RP)

Details

Submitted by[?]: Partia ultra nacionaliste e Kalopisë

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 4332

Description[?]:

Unfortunately, it seems Kalopia may soon be engaged in another armed conflict. The current border crisis doesn't seem to getting better and we fear that Jakania will not back down. The country needs the government more than ever. With the current political state becoming more and more hostile we are in desperate need of some sort of political peace. We believe that a written agreement will be the best action. We believe it is extremely important that we unite to deal with these external threats. The UNPK have drafted up an agreement for which we hope the other parties will agree too.

The agreement states that:

1. No major laws involving social issues be proposed during the conflict we are currently involved in.

2. No crucial cabinet changes during the conflict.

3. No major offensive or possibly controversial remarks made to members of different members.

4. Before any law can be voted upon it must first go through the debate phase. Unless crucial to the conflict or war effort.

If a party fails to comply punishments can range from forced disbandment to being exiled.

These laws will only go into effect if an armed conflict results otherwise it will not apply.

MessageWe agree with this, and believe that the punishment should be very severe for parties if they break this act. This keeps both my party, and the Homeland Party from straying too far either way, which I believe is important when considering national security.

Message"No crucial cabinet changes"? We are in the middle of an election season, and of course there will be a change of government. An attempt to keep the current in power by undemocratic means would be nothing less than a coup.

MessageMr Koç,

I do not believe that a cabinet change is in need anyhow following the electoral results. The voters voted to maintain the current Government, so that is what we shall give them.

MessageVoters have denied the Reformists a majority, and instead overwhelmingly handed it to the parties that supported Mr. Muhammad Heemas for president. All these parties have campaigned for change in our country. Now it is up to their politicians to catch up, and swiftly banish the Reformists from the halls of power.

The Homeland Party has officially voted to support the Ultra-Nationalists' National Unity Act -- on the condition that said act is implemented by a cabinet that does not include the Reformists.

MessageAnd yet in a Presidential Election which saw all other parties back the KWIS candidate in the Second Round, the Reform Party candidate still managed to win 56-44%. Presidential elections are known to be a better thermometer for public opinion than legislative ones, and this Presidential Election suggests large support for the Reform Party.

MessageThe law hasn't yet passed so a cabinet change would be totally okay now.

MessageKusturica, that was the presidential election. The cabinet formation is left to the parliamentary majority -- which solidly opposes your regime, and supports a change in government. Case closed.

MessageAs this bill concerns cabinet alterations (or there lack of) it would need a 2/3 majority as per the constitution. Sadly you cannot gain this without our support. So this bill will not pass.

MessageMr Koç,

Regime? Regime? Don't you, the one who killed thousands during his time as President, call this a regime. That was a regime Mr Speaker. One that persecuted you and discriminated if you weren't Turjak. One which removed all government protection for non-Turjaks. One who wiped out democracy in Kalopia. Don't you - a mass murderer - call ours a regime.

MessageThe Prime Minister has once again proven his anti-democratic intentions by flip-flopping on this issue. He and his thugs voiced support for the bill when it would guarantee his political survival, but oppose it now that it was of no use for prolonging his rule. Frightening.
