Message | Council. Train Operating Companies carry a unique responsibility in a nation, given that they are often someone's only viable means of transportation. We would like to point out that attempts at privatised rail companies usually result in disaster, with ticket prices able to be raised far beyond what could be considered a fair limit. We ask the government to consider the fact that allowing a private company to operate on our rails is essentially enforcing a government controlled monopoly. Message | Herr Salem, I wouldn't expect otherwise from a man from an inferior culture, but you fail to understand both our economics and our infrastructure. Firstly, private TOCs in Dorvik have offered quality service to the Dorvish people for centuries, unfettered by the bureaucracy you wish to introduce. They do not result in disaster as you have suggested, and you once again show a total lack of understanding about the institutions of this country. Secondly, your last point makes no kind of sense. "Essentially enforcing a government controlled monopoly"? Where, on Terra, do you get that from? We are allowing a variety of private companies to compete on our rails, and ultimately the only way a company can get a monopoly is through better, more affordable service - which I thought you wanted? If you think we are giving over control to one rail company, you are mistaken. Furthermore, isn't this taking control from the government? And we already have private companies on our rails. It's like you've totally missed the point and said the absolute opposite of everything. |

Message | Mr.Speaker, We Agree with the Statement of Mrs.Eberl on How Privatisation will actually benefit Consumers and Boost Competition though we oppose her pinpointing the SGP Representative"s Culture as the cause for their misunderstanding of the Policy. Cynthia Schroeder, Leader of the DSU |

Message | Frau Eberl First, I believe I speak for my whole party when I say I condemn racism of any sort. I hope that the Heilige Allianz have the good sense to reprimand the honourable minister, and look forward to a time when we have a functioning Speaker chairing this council. Back on topic, perhaps you do not realise what full privatisation entails? It means that private companies own the tracks, and can disallow other companies from operating on them. Whereas national ownership of the tracks allows a multitude of different companies to perform a share of serving our towns and cities, private ownership will ensure a single monopoly. Full privatisation works on the assumption that independent companies can simply build their own tracks. This is not practical in the modern world, particularly in towns and cities, which will have to rely on one, monopolistic service. Tareec Salem SGP Chairperson for Transport and Infrastructure. |

Message | Herr Salem, I think it is you who misunderstands. Train Operating Companies operate trains, not the tracks. They are government property. That's like saying car-owners own the roads. Eleonore Eberl Minister for Infrastructure and Transport |

Message | Frau Eberl Full privatisation means that TOC's own the tracks, in the same way that privatised roads are owned and maintained by private companies. Under the current system, tracks and roads are nationalised. Please do not hand over our country to a monopoly. Tareec Salem SGP Chairperson for Transport and Infrastructure. |
