| Significant evidence has emerged of links between the Sacred Hosian Union (SHU) and the terrorist Apostolic Army group, Barmenia has been devastated by religious violence and oppression before. We cannot allow our country to go back to the way things were before. Our political system must not become hijacked by extremists who want to persecute people who hold different religious views to their own. This bill therefore proposes that SHU members/associates should be barred both from running for election for public office and from holding elected public office. It is not being proposed at this point that they should be prohibited from legally operating as a political organisation, although that could be an issue which will need to be returned to at a later date. On the other hand, if, over time, the SHU can completely cut their links from religious terrorists and conduct itself in a responsible way, then we see no reason why their political privileges should not be restored.
