Bill: GMP - Home Schooling Hones Learning
Details
Submitted by[?]: Green Moderate Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 2195
Description[?]:
Speaking as one who was home schooled for many years, the fact that the Selucian Empire has prohibited this for the past couple of years is appalling. Many gifted and talented children or those with behavioral or learning disabilities can be much better served by the individual attention granted by home schooling. I propose that adults who wish to homeschool their children must have a master's degree in any field or a degree in education, and that children will take a standardized test or submit a portfolio every year to the local government to demonstrate that they have learned on par with students in schools. If a home schooled child falls below the 20th percentile of all students in that grade for the region, he will have to go to school the next year. These were the rules in my region when I was growing up, and they worked very well. |

Message | Indeed, this new proposal with clear instructions for those who want to learn at home fits better then all the other tries before without any form of control. The IPS will support this bill, but we suggest to check the new situation some years later to get a better overview whether or not this new education system is functional. |
