Description[?]:

Riccardo Morelli, LP:

"Mr Speaker,
the terrible cut of the luxury sale tax during the previous legislature has been a veritable injustice regarding the common man. The luxury sale tax is probably one of the best redistribution measure which can be enforced: more the rich spend, more they pay and more they can contribute to the expenses of the state. More they have, more they contribute. It is a simple but foundamental concept.
If they are so rich to affords luxury items and products, it is also because they live in this country, in this society, in this community.
For to much decades this parliament granted gifts to the most privileged, it is time to say that it is enough!"

MessageAdriano Manrin, ULD:

With all due respect, but this proposal is terrible and it'll HARM the common man.

I understand that you have no knowledge regarding the economy, as all leftists, but please, understand that lowering the luxury tax INCREASED the production of luxury products, it INCREASED the demand for luxury products, and it INCREASED the amount of luxury taxes paid.
It also led to the steep drop in unemployment, down to a historic, a monumental 4,4%. It drastically increased the amount that the state earned and all the reforms culminated in the tumbling down of the deficit by billions of lira.
Now, you leftists stopped that fall in the deficit, you made unemployment jump to 5,1, and overall done nothing but harmed Istalia. So, please do not speak about economic issues and, in conclusion, dissolve.

MessageRiccardo Morelli, Whip of LP:

"Mr Speaker,
or someone else... could explain to Mr Manrin that it seems he is talking about goods like... I don't know... a kg of meat, a bottle of milk, a forniture for the toilette...

We are talking about products that just a minority can purchaise, a minority which doesn't care to pay 120 instead of 100. They don't buy things because their "more affordable" price. The price is their last concern! For the same reason to the manufacturers of these products, doesn't fear fluctuation on the sales. Even during a crisis the luxury sector didn't experience the same problems, because the costumers that these manufacturers satisfy, are always the one less touched by a crisis.

And you are talking here of the effect of a tax?

Simply ridicolous!

But at least, everybody here can see for who ULD is working into this chamber, just for a little % of our population, the privileged. It is a shame mr Manrin! A shame!"
