Bill: RP: Newspapers of Dundorf

Details

Submitted by[?]: Militärregierung - Alte Kämpfergruppe

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 4353

Description[?]:

Dundorfischer Zentralen Medien (DZM) is Dundorf's major news outlet bringing you up-to-date news from Dundorf's six major papers:

1. Neues Dundorf (New Dundorf) is a broadsheet newspaper that has the support of the hard left. It supports militant communism, class struggle and revolution. It is seen as internationalist in foreign affairs, and promotes the idea of a 'Terran revolution'. It is also supportive of social reform. Its columnists are split over social issues such as gay marriage and abortion while its primary concern is the economic struggle.

2. Der Globus (The Globe) is a broadsheet newspaper with considerable loyalties to conservatism, the Monarchy, and traditional moral and religious values. It is mildly nationalistic in tone, and shifts between favoring economic nationalism or free trade. It generally takes restrictive opinions on immigration, social reform and crime and is noted for its staunch anti-communist line in foreign and domestic affairs.

3. Der Unabhängigen (The Independent) is a broadsheet newspaper, with a centrist political agenda, and actively promotes free-markets and a small government. It is seen as socially liberal and economically conservative. It has generally supported right-wing governments which promote a smaller role for the government and bureaucracy, and free trade. It is also supportive of globalisation.

4. Die Dunburg Welt Herold (The Dunburg World Herald) is a broadsheet newspaper of the nation's largest city and capital that while declaring itself 'independent' politically, has sympathies for centre-left and liberal causes. It is the paper most likely to promote environmental causes and social reform. It has generally endorsed moderate, centre-left parties, but has also backed right-wing parties with a liberal bent. It is seen as the paper for the liberal middle-classes.

5. Völkischer Beobachter (The People's Observer) is a broadsheet newspaper with absolute loyalties to the far-right of Dundorf. It is the most vehemently outspoken newspaper in the nation endorsing radical nationalism, extreme right-wing governmental reforms, cultural protectionism and economic autarky.

6. Pop! is a tabloid newspaper known to report from a popular entertainment angle and sensationalise the news. It often offers informal interviews with national leaders, and is generally supportive of incumbent politicians. Many of its opinion pieces are populist in nature, skeptical of both big business and the middle classes.

NOTE: These are not exhaustive, feel free to propose new paper titles and purposes (ie a Sports Magazine, etc), however, if one currently exists, just stick with it instead of creating something new. Have fun!

MessagePdM, under Section I of the Sociaiist Protection Bill, you are found to have met 3/4 criteria to necessitate a ban of your party from the Volkskammer, upon obtaining a copy of the manifesto of your "party". You are hereby subject to two options:

I. Submitting to the laws enforced in the ban, and leaving our nation's parliament.
II. Declining to submit to the law, and facing the appropriate consequence determined by the Volkspolizei, which is an arrest of your party leader and dispersing of all members of your political organization.

We have worked hard to create our new nation and we won't see it destroyed by forces which drive to divide it. Consider this a formal warning.

MessageWe are likely to vote no on this proposal. Recent laws passed by our comrades in the SED have collectivized all newspapers under one central publisher: Neues Dundorf. Need we remind you that still have yet to submit to the Socialist Protection Bill, of which is binding under Dundorfian Law? If no further action is done, then our police forces will act accordingly under the second option we have outlined previously.

MessageThe PdM refuses to submit to such a bill. We are not a socialist party, nor will we pretend to be. We represent those who are unrepresented by such a ideology: namely the middle classes, the business owners, the capitalists whom you have tried but failed to destroy.

Now, the Communists wish to deny our right to challenge them? If you attack this organization, we will simply run as Independents with no formalized agenda but who just so happen to caucus together in parliament.

The voice of the people cannot be denied nor ignored. I figured that Communists would recognize that.

Theresia Amelie Auerswald
Chairwoman of the PdM

OOC: But seriously, you can't ban me from the game because you don't like my politics. That's why it's called a game; everyone gets to play. If Moderation supports you in doing so, than this game has fallen really far since I joined in 2007.

MessageOOC: We are not. You may be an experienced player, but we are roleplaying realistically and removing opposition is exactly what a socialist state would do. The justification of the ban was warranted after the left coalition won the 4th Dundorfian Civil War, and began setting up the DDR. And since in the roleplay, your party is effectively illegal under the law, and in character your party has refused to submit to it, then that would relay the appropriate response in game, which is the police dispersing your party and arresting your leader.

MessageOOC: And as such, we are likely to publish an event in Neues Dundorf of your party being forcibly shut down by the police. It may not be fair, but there was plenty of justification for us to roleplay this way.
