Bill: Power to where it belongs! - new Head of State, new National Church

Details

Submitted by[?]: Holy Army

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 4353

Description[?]:

We have come to realize that the current King does not fullfil his role in a satisfactory way. We need someone who is fully devoted to God. We need Holiest Kutsalwrntukai as a leader of Vanuku. And right now, when the Holy Army itself doesn't have constitutional majority, the only way we can achieve this is to call the election and let people choose whom they ought to choose.

Moreover, the present day churches are so corrupt. Vanuku needs its own National Church, and the Leader of Vanuku shall also become the Head of the National Church of Vanuku. Our church will finally be not something outside the state, but these two institutions will become united.

MessageMr Speaker,

This is the best way to be rid of an undemocratic and autocratic king and elect a head of state and establish a republic. Whatever some parties feel about the role of religion and secularity in society, the king is currently head of this state without a single vote being cast for him and has a veto over policy being made here.

This new proposed system will allow all parties to choose who is the head of state in democratic elections. And furthermore that head of state will not have a veto and we can move forward like a more modern nation.

I therefore urge parties to vote for this, end the autocratic hold over our country and let the people choose who is our leader at the next election - whether that be someone from the Holy Party the Free Workers Party, the Centrists or another.

MessageMr. Speaker,

What republican would change a monarchy into a theocracy?.. Furthermore there is no "National Church of Vanuku". Our nation is split between Ahmadists, Patriarchal Hosianists, Aurorian Hosianists and several other religions.

Mr. De Smet is voting a cultist into power. Even the monarchist party here, that being us, would rather vote for a Governor-General or Premier than a cultist dictator.

What the spokesperson for the monarchist party is saying is pure poppycock and scaremongering! We are simply voting for a new system which will allow us the parties - and the people who vote for us - to choose a democratically elected head of state at the next election. It could be a candidate from any party.

At the moment we can't do that - the monarch's position is hereditary and because of his royal veto the king has the power to be a political force. That is not right or fair, particularly when he is biased towards one party and one ethnicity.

This is a once in a generation chance - maybe once in a century, to be honest - we can shape our country here and now or keep the status quo and sink into the mire.

Random fact: Players who consent to a particular role-play by acknowledging it in their own role-play cannot then disown it or withdraw their consent from it. For example, if player A role-plays the assassination of player B's character, and player B then acknowledges the assassination in a news post, but then backtracks and insists the assassination did not happen, then he will be required under the rules to accept the validity of the assassination role-play.
