Bill: Identity Card Compulsion Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: National Party of Baltusia
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 2063
Description[?]:
Identity cards are currently voluntary. This is a waste of money for the government, but if these cards were issued to all peoples - Then maybe they would be used for. I point to the recent act for alcoholic beverages - People must now prove their age for this. The cards would be a world of use for this, and for police enquiries and other legal proceedings. People would not have to carry it at all times if they d not wish to, but all people must own one. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Government-issued identity card policy.
Old value:: Citizens are issued with identity cards on a voluntary basis.
Current: Citizens are not issued with identity cards.
Proposed: All citizens are issued with identity cards but are not required to carry them.

Message | We plan to take this to the vote quickly, to fit it in before the November election. |
Date | 18:27:36, June 05, 2005 CET | From | Totalitarian Nationalist Party | To | Debating the Identity Card Compulsion Act |
Message | We commend the Popular Socialists for putting this on the table. Of course, we'd love if it was required to carry them but we will take what we can get. |
Date | 19:38:40, June 05, 2005 CET | From | Democratic Socialists | To | Debating the Identity Card Compulsion Act |
Message | No. This has cropped up before - the first time, we agreed to the compromise currently in place, the second time attempts to move it to this suggestion were defeated. If a person wants ID they can currently apply for it, but if they don't want the government nosing around in their life, they should know that it's not happening. |
Date | 21:24:48, June 05, 2005 CET | From | National Party of Baltusia | To | Debating the Identity Card Compulsion Act |
Message | The individuals in question do not have to have any involvement in this card at all if they do not wish - much like how they do not need to constantly carry their birth certificate. |
Date | 21:33:23, June 05, 2005 CET | From | Democratic Socialists | To | Debating the Identity Card Compulsion Act |
Message | They do have to have involvement - you wish to force them to have this card. We are not a police state, and this measure is unnecessary. |
