Message | The Bastards find the lastest steam of bills from the Centrists very encouraging indeed. |
Date | 13:45:51, March 06, 2006 CET | From | Fight For Your Right To Party | To | Debating the Education and Work Act |
Message | The only article we disagree with here is #2, and even then we are not convinced that any of the options for that law are particularly brilliant. We are distinctly on the "yes" side for everything else here. |
Date | 09:56:50, March 07, 2006 CET | From | Libertarian Party | To | Debating the Education and Work Act |
Message | The Libertarian Party agrees on the following articles: 1, 6, 7 The Libertarian Party disagrees on the following articles: 2, 3, 4, 5 1)The Libertarian party believes that parents should be able to choose which school to send their kids to, and if there is government funds for education, then these funds should go to the school of the parents choice, and not some state determined one-size-fits-none problem. 2) In the free market economy (FME), parents should see the benefits of ensuring that their children are properly educated, and thus parents should not be cohersed into sending their children to school (particularly if they cannot choose the school they send their kids to). 3) In the FME, the employer has every right to fire employees who do not wish to work under the employers rules. If the employee could get paid more for the same work he is doing at another employer, then he would already be working there. 4&5) The LP is not in favor of regulation where none is necessary. 6) Workers have the option to organize into a group, but such trade unions should have no special rights or priveledges over the employer. 7) All workers should have the choice to refuse to work if the working conditions are unsatisfactory, but the worker has no special protection from being fired if the employer can find someone else who is willing to do his job. The Libertarian may choose to support this bill. |

Message | We agree with the libertarians, especially on article 2. After all, certain castes of persons are destined for long hours of manual labor, so it's pointless to school them. |

Message | As usual there is no divergence from the libertarian doctrine >_> |

Random fact: Party candidates for head of state elections are not visible to the public. This means that you cannot see who will run and who will not, which adds another strategic element to the elections. |
