Details
Submitted by[?]: União Democrática do Tukarali
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill proposes to change income taxes. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 4364
Description[?]:
The União Democrática Tukarese propose to adjust the government's income tax policy to better address the economic situation of the República Democrática do Tukarali. "The recent reforms to the tax code have essentially led to anyone earning between 25,000 and 85,000 TUK paying more taxes, while the less-well off were also made to pay more tax on essential goods such as food and non-luxury clothing. And now the PRT is asking for a further increase on taxes for essential goods while at the same time proposing to cut corporation tax even further below its current low level. It is time for all parties that have the interests of the people of Tukarali at heart to return to a fairer and better balanced tax system and leave the extremist policies proposed by the PRT behind." Message | "How can the PNP claim to be center-left economically when they support and continue supporting the extremist anti-social tax policies of the PRT? The PRT and their willing helpers are have been making low-income earners pay for tax cuts for the rich, and they are now proposing to make the poor pay even more for a tax cut for corporations. While the the PNP is at least resisting a further increase in sales tax, their support for the less well-off in our society seems to consist of empty rhethoric only. As for the proposed tax system being complex: that's what fair tax systems are generally like. You can either get fair or simple. A fair tax system asks everyone to contribute to our society according to their means, a simple tax system is generally biased to advantage the well-off, just as our current system is. This moderately complex system attempts to tax everyone according to their means, while still providing enough incentives to earn (as an employee) or pay (as an employer) more by keeping the increases in tax rates relatively flat, as opposed to the one sudden jump that occurs in the current system."
