Message | Many spending projects of this sort, and high income tax cuts, come with their own intangible funding built in. The assumption, which in our opinion is a sound one, is that the spending results in a change in the behavior of the affected parties, to the net revenue gain of the country. They cannot be evaluated simply as revenue neutral. Just as tax cuts to wealthy citizens results in job creation, a broader tax base and, ultimately, increased tax revenue, international aid results in stonger trading partners, and ultimately economic growth far behond the scope of a narrow revenut-neutral analysis. Our belef is that aid of this sort represents an investment in the economy, not a drain on it. |
