| Message | There's a reason our elections are 42 months -- it makes them a very convenient and easy-to-remember once per OOC week, at the same time every week. 30 months makes no sense; it's neither an even number of IC years (two and a half), nor an even number of OOC weeks (five days). 24 (or 36 or 48) would have been less-bad -- at least they're an even number of IC years -- but all of them are still far, far worse than 42, for the above reason. Most bills which are currently in the voting stage when an election happens, get reset back to the debate stage at that time, and must be manually returned to the voting stage again after the election. The shorter the election interval, the more often that this interruption and its associated delay happen -- which does the opposite of "move politics a bit more". Kirlawa's General Assembly has had 717 seats for well over a millennium and a half. We see no reason to mess around with this valued and utterly harmless tradition. Keeping the same figure, furthermore also makes it easy to compare election results, whether recent or long-ago or both, by simply directly comparing the number of seats instead of any need to calculate percentages or such. |
