Bill: Managing the Deficit
Details
Submitted by[?]: Kirlawan Social Democrat Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 4379
Description[?]:
Unfortunately certain parties have created a situation whereby the country now has a considerable deficit. This needs to be rectified immediately and the SDLP are willing to work with any party on common sense decent proposals to balance our budget. If we cannot manage to come to an arrangement on this deficit I fear that national services will be affected greatly. Reports have already suggested that provincial assemblies and local authorities are already feeling the pinch and residents are in uproar at certain services being delivered at a reduced quality. I will add proposals but these can be changed as I will leave open to debate until an agreement is reached. If agreement cannot be reached it will be for the next assembly to deal with. |

Message | Managing the deficit? More like trying to revert back to previous measures of extortion at the expense of the people. All your doing is trying to pass your previous bill regarding taxation just under another name. Very intelligent move on your part. (This isnt sarcasm) |

Message | Thank you but rather than extort the people I want to ensure we can provide the essential services for them. With the previous bill having passed Kirlawa is now in deficit. We risk having to seek foreign loans and cannot give surety to the public over service such as Health, Education and Defence. |

Message | I was always in favour of reducing the previous taxes but not by the levels which have been passed as I did not want to plunge our country into economic chaos. |

Message | I am very willing as stated to come to an agreement that will balance our budget. That may mean we will have to talk about budgets assigned to departments, certain tax increases and measures to generate revenue. |

Message | I have nothing against balancing the budget so long as taxes remain as low as possible. |

Message | But to balance the budget we may need an increase in taxes unless we can create trade agreements which may bring in essential revenue. |

Message | I would really like to hear the views of some of the long established parties? |
Date | 14:38:08, April 15, 2018 CET | From | Kirlawan Social Democrat Party | To | Debating the Managing the Deficit |
Message | Would Ár nAontas and Ár Ré accept a compromise and implement a corporate tax of 27% which is still down from what the tax had originally been at 33 but not as low at 20, in an effort to mitigate the deficit? Also would both parties consider a 33% sales tax on luxury goods that would again be lower than the 45% previous but higher than the 20% passed? With that in mind would others be happy with such a compromise as long as the assembly focused on other means to reduce the deficit? |

Message | Would parties be in favour of a further reduction in corporate tax if tax on sale of luxury goods could be increased. Following this we would also have to look at the budgets assigned to the different areas to ensure good value for money and that we are not throwing money unnecessarily away. |

Random fact: The voters enjoy active parties who take upon themselves the initiative to create laws. |
Random quote: "A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks." - Thomas Jefferson |
