The Education and the Health and Social Services spending is tied at first for national priority. The unregualated amount of time a person can recieve unemployment is a problem. These people may live off the state and not find a job. They could use the money for illegal purposes and can add to the national unemployment. |

Proposal[?] to change Guarantee of minimum income.
Old value:: All adults not supported by another person shall be guaranteed a reasonable, though not high, standard of living by the government.
Current: There shall be no direct cash payments to individuals to guarantee a minimum income.
Proposed: All adults not supported by another person shall be guaranteed a very basic subsistence income by the government. However, the provision of this is not to exceed a certian period of time.

Message | Lowering and capping welfare and unemployment benefits... Ick. If we've got an economic downturn and not enough jobs to go around, people are going to suffer. Of course we don't expect people to stay on welfare forever. But this bill will measurably lower our citizens' quality of life. |
