Bill: RP: Boycott of the Olympic Games in Valruzia

Details

Submitted by[?]: Republican Centrist Alliance

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 4380

Description[?]:

This is an RP Bill concerning foreign policy, This would pass with a simple majority vote, however even if the bill gets a majority of the votes in congress it can still be vetoed by the President (because the President has the final say in matters concerning foreign policy). However that veto is nullified by a possible 2/3 majority of congress voting yes.

The great nation of Likatonia should not be beholden to that rouge terrorist state of Valruzia. The Republican Centrist Alliance therefore ask of this congress to boycott the 4380 Summer Olympic games in Valruzia. Since considering their previous history of lies and deceit we do not trust them to guarantee the safety of our athletes, and to guarantee the fairnes of the games.

And if successful the foreign minister shall inform the Valruzian goverment of it.

Vote Yes for Boycott

Vote No for Attendence

Abstain if you are boring.

MessageThank you Mr. President, it is a very wise decision. Our relations with Valruzia have been damaged by reckless actions from past Likatonian governments, but this chapter of our history must be left behind. We should honor our neighbors of Valruzia with our presence in the international peace festival that is the Olympics, as they will honor us with their hospitality. They are our friends.

MessageA NOTICE FROM THE VALRUZIAN NATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE:

The VNOC is saddened by the fact that Likatonian legislators have decided to politicize the greatest sports event in the history of Terra, and that due to this politicizing the Great Athletes from Likatonia who can be proud of great records from previous Olympics are now going to be barred from participating in the Olympics under their own flag. Therefore the VNOC will allow any Likatonian athlete who wishes to participate in the upcoming Olympics, to participate under the Independent Athletes Flag, all medals will be awarded normally with the notice that the Likatonia is not officially represented in the upcoming Games.

MessageI would like to remind President Winston that he never officially ended the policy of not recognizing Valruzia as a state, that was begun by former President Walker. So in a legal sense we can't very well compete in an olympic game in a "nation" that we don't have diplomatic relations with. Especially when we arent even allowed to use our own flag.

MessageOOC: Ok, let's make something clear. You really need to work on you RP as it is very loose. You were the ones to vote not to participate in the Olympics. It was not me to ban your athletes from participating under Likatonian flag. You did by voting in favor of this bill. It is how things work. It is the exclusive right of a country to allow to use its flag by athletes in the Olympics, and You by voting in favor of this ridiculous bill have practically baned "any anthlete" to take part in the Olympics as an official representative of Likatonia. I clearly stated that "The VNOC is saddened by the fact (...) Great Athletes from Likatonia (...) are now going to be barred from participating in the Olympics under their own flag." Thanks to You. Nowhere did I ay that I ban them from participating under the Likatonian flag, You did with this vote. All the athletes who are not allowed (not by me) to participate in the Olympics can participate under the Independent Athletes Flag (not representing any specific country). Please, I urge you as the CRC to start using the forum, as it is an integral part of the game and is a great source of information and a place to broaden the extent of the country's overall roleplay.

MessageOOC: And for this "hostility" between Likatonia and Valruzia... I informed You that the reasoning of this RP is dumb and I am not going to contribute to this, therefore I will not engage with any RP between Likatonia and Valruzia, unless the level and quality of the Likatonian RP will be changed and improved. By neglecting the forum (which is, according to the Game Rules, an integral part of the game)... Oh right... even the Game Rules are posted on the forum...

MessageThe President announced the veto to this bill during the voting procedure, and left it signed. He has not signed, and will not sign, this resolution of boycott. Therefore, there is no reason why this boycott should take place, or why Likatonia should be left out of the Games. This resolution is vetoed. Likatonia will participate alongside our Valruzian brothers.

I beg the Representatives in this House to stop causing severe damage to the international relations of our nation.

Paul Lion
Vice President of Likatonia

(OOC: The WSP player cannot be forced to login in a 3-months game time span, the minimum time to be able to play adequately is the 9 months of a voting. He said he would veto this and, given that we don't have more time before the Olympics, I think it should be enough.)
