Bill: Income tax proposal of March 4381

Details

Submitted by[?]: Partito del Socialismo Istaliano - F.P.

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill proposes to change income taxes. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 4382

Description[?]:

The PCI has come to an agreement with the ministry of finance led by AR for a new Taxation plan.
The plan actually in use, which was proposed by my previous government, worked greatly for Istalia, deleting the flat tax of the right and giving many wealth which the state spent for public utilies. The istalian citizens largely approved our measure, now, after some years which underlined our success, I propose a new step forward in that direction.
We will have more money to put on education and healthcare after we've reformed them.

- Ernesto Revara, Head of Government

This is absolutely disgusting; you want to make the middle class, even the lower-middle class, pay a fourth of their income? The people already told you what they think about that, removing you from power last time. I am sure that they will do it once more if this thing is to pass. You already are pushing yourself uncomfortably deep into my pockets, I don't want you to rip them off!

MessageAlso, Your claim that "the lower-middle class will pay a fourth of their income" is an absolute falsity. Every person with a month income that's over 13,0001 LIS will pay the 38% on what is OVER that wealth, so, for example, if you're gaining 14.001 LIS (middle class? bourgeois class, you should say!) you will pay the 38% only on 1.000 LIS.

MessageOOC: I am trying to do living calculations without knowing how much an actual Lira is lol this is more for the giggles

Did you even think about the living costs? It is natural that higher earners have higher expenses, and taking a fourth of the earnings of people earning a mere 4,500 LIS, which is pretty average income, and is below the standard in Genevia, most parts of Romula and Calliari, which are the three most expensive cities to live in in this country. So, let's say, you live in Genevia, where the average living cost could go up to even 4,500 LIS, as one-bedroom apartments cost around 1,5k there, and, if that is in a good location, that could even be 2k, or 2,5k, if that is in the city center. A car or, what is more likely, public transport could cost around 50 lira for a monthly pass. 2050. Food? Well, I'd say 450. 2500. But hey, 2,100 left, right? Wrong. that is just grocery. Other? Let's be conservative, a second that. 2950. still, 1,550 of income, not too shabby. Well, we didn't count medicine, let's say 50. 3000. Internet. 300. 3300. Entertainment. 3500. Alcohol, which I didn't count? An average Istalian spends 250 on alcohol. That is a lot, let's say that someone spends less. 3750. Aditional internet costs. 3800. Services, such as a plumber or electrician? In large ciies, they cost a lot; even up to 300 Lira, but let's go with 200. 3950. Clothes? 4050. A single visit to a doctor, which I won't count. Contraceptives? Well, it can be anywhere from 0 to 100, but let's go with maybe 40, well, fifty; I am sure that people lied a bit, but the average given is a little higher. 4100. Articles such as pens, paper, scissors, basic articles of that sort. 20? 4120. Now, everyone has a "big spend" each month, that can go up to 400 Lira, but I'd go with 200. It can really be anything, honestly; a big, emergency cost. I will go with 180; 4300. Money for colleagues? 4400? Well, I won't really count this, so 4300. But money spent on parties, additional going out? 100-150; 4400, but it can be lower. Credits, maybe? Well, here the costs can be really high, potentially. I won't count a credit. so, with costs being 4400, and that being with someone living, well, surely not a humble life, but an average one, and without a credit, which most people in this situation would have,a nd additional costs, which, and other things, could bring this up to 4800-5000. But let's be more modest, and I'll go with someone spending less, maybe even 3800. However, we must remember, most people this age have families. I am just bringing statistics, that will make you think. Most people earning this much work for other people, too, unless their partner earns around as much s they do. An average genevian family, like mine, when I was growing up, had credits, but also savings. Two, three children. The overall earnings weren't high. Also, the Istalian society is a heavily smoking one, and I didn't count the costs for that, and I may have run my food estimate a bit high; However, know that this bill will mostly hit the third and fourth brackets, the middle class.
