Bill: Foreign Spending and Employment Act 4382 (Liberty)
Details
Submitted by[?]: Liberty Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 4383
Description[?]:
Liberty would like to ensure that Beluzian citizens have first bite of the employment cherry. The current child labor laws are unclear as to whether they include allowing a child to hold a paperboy job or to act in films. If so, It is nonsensical to restrict these positions from children which is why we advocate moving to a allowable but regulatory legal framework. Liberty would like the citizens themselves to decide how long they wish to work. We'd also propose moving to a voluntary union system and we should make a majority harder to obtain for unions to prevent frivolous strikes. Liberty would also like tighten up the foreign aid system so that money goes to disaster relief and not to upgrading a despot's palace and tank fleet. |

Message | I am shocked that Parliament has decided to enslave our children by allowing children to work without any regulation or protections guaranteed. That means a 12 year old can go out and work in some of our dirtiest of mines. Even with regulations, you are still taking away the rights of a child to live, work, have a family, basically every human right by subjecting them to work, because even by regulating what the child can do, you are still opening them up to any possible work. Think of the Industrial Revolution in Terra two thousand years ago. Children were subjected to working in factories without any protection whatsoever and these children were 9-13 working hours and hours on machinery until they were literally exhausted and collapsed on the spot, or even worse, died. It wasn't until 70 years later that our attitudes towards children started to change and we put in place the building blocks for free and compulsory education system By the late stages, children were going to school rather than work and being treated as children rather than 'little adults'. Many could avoid exploitation of their childhood and get an education. Adult labourers had children that worked in factories when better regulations were placed, but that does not change how they are treated, as they are still expected to do hard labour, albeit more restrictive. Child labour is work that deprives a child of their childhood, interferes with their education and is dangerous morally, physically and mentally. I think it is nonsensical that the Liberty Party thinks that paperboy job or acting in films is child labour when it is clearly not, as it is not depriving you of anything. You can continue having your education in any form as you are not restricted. Yet having children engaged in diamond mining or in a coal mine deprives them of education, as day after day, they have to go back and work because their family is poor. Are household chores done by a child child labour? Are child artists a form of child labour? Do they exploit the child? I think enslaving children is more exploitative then having them throw newspapers across the lawn. I think offering a child for prostitution is more exploitative then having them act in some coming of age film. I think offering a child for illicit activities in particular for the trafficking of drugs is more exploitative then a child helping an elderly man mow his lawn. Child labour is not a part-time job which you do for a small salary or a full time job you do when you somehow became famous because somehow you stood out in drama class and was picked out for acting. I suggest that the Freedom Party reconsider their vote and work with the KWRF to truly implement fundamental and common sense workers laws |

Message | Liberty encourages our friends at the Front to re-read the bill. It would have saved them much time and consternation. And they might even see they can support the bill. Or they can continue being the party of no. Up to them. |

Message | I looked at the bill before my comments and I still cannot support this bill as it does not assure daily working hours for the workers and that hiring policies will be fair and equal for all minorities rather than not regulating who can employ who which can lead to discrimination. If the Liberty Party is willing to change some of the laws proposed here in an alternate bill, I will be willing to support |
