Message | The SDPB has already put forward a constitutional amendment that would achieve nearly all of the same things and would please encourage our fellow parties to vote for it. |
Date | 15:13:48, April 26, 2018 CET | From | Social Democratic and Labor Party (SDLP) | To | Debating the Title reform bill |
Message | The SDPB will be voting no on this proposal but would be willing to accept a similar one if certain things are changed. In order, on article 1 we are fully supportive. On article 2 we would prefer the name Parliment but are willing to compromise. On article 3 we would prefer the name Province but are again open to compromise on this. On article 4 we are fully supportive. On article 5 we would prefer the title President of the Republic but will accept simply President. On article 6 we are fully supportive. On article 7 we feel that 500 members would be too few and our preferred number is 750 but are willing to negotiate on this. On article 8 the party holds no strong view on this issue and would be willing to accept it but only under a compromise proposal were some of our other demands are met. On article 9 we demand that the new value be changed to 50. Finally, on article 10 we are fully supportive. We would also like to have reforms to public financing of elections and the nation's position on multi-citizenship be considered in a future compromise proposal. |
