Bill: Taxation of Religion Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Beiteynu Tax Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 4402
Description[?]:
While we in the Beiteynu Tax Party are largely proud Yeudis, who practice Yeudism, we also find it high time that religions in Beiteynu are not given a privileged status afforded to no other institution, such as the many charities that do great work in the country. Henceforth, we find this move a move in the right direction. |

Message | You have no idea the kind of Pandora's box you are opening. This is a massive violation of the separation of church and state. Do you know why religions are tax-exempt in democracies? If they are taxed, they can make political donations, employ lobbyists, and use their money to influence the nation's politics. That's the trade-off. If you want to sell our nation's independence from religious institutions in exchange for some extra tax-dollars, then so be it. Also, you are mistaken, charities are most definitely already tax-exempt. |
