Bill: Military Service Bill
Details
Submitted by[?]: Proletariat Revolution Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 2064
Description[?]:
Both men and women may enter the Likatonian army. They may serve equally side by side. They may enlist either as a vocational option at the age of 16, or upon the completion of compulsory education at the age of 18. Military service in Likatonia will remain voluntary. No citizens shall ever be drafted for service. The only time that there shall be an exception is if the nation is under attack AND martial law is declared. When this happens, the state may consider conscription, but it shall remain a last resort. If there is conscription, the nation shall only draft those 18-30, unless there is an extreme shortage of able-bodied persons. If there is, then those at 16 and dropping out shall be drafted. |

Message | Our age for the end of compulsary education is 18, but that can be vocational, so maybe we should allow joining of the army at the age of 16 (age of majority), military training counting as vocational training? what do others think? is 16 too young? |

Message | Well, if they can vote, have jobs, pay taxes, they can fight... 16 seems about right. But, that's why I left in the choice for either or. I can fix the wording as we go along. |

Message | Ah, check this bill for typos, PEL. There are several. We certainly support the idea behind this, though. |

Message | Doesn't matter how many there were. They're fixed now, so it's a moot point. Thank you for addressing that. |

Random fact: The people in your nation don't like inactive parties. When you often abstain from voting for a bill, they will dislike your party and your visibility to the electorate will decrease significantly. Low visibility will means you are likely to lose seats. So keep in mind: voting Yes or No is always better than Abstaining. |
