Message | Latrelle Chandler, member from Saisyut, Floor Leader Remetch Beesave Xadtu Mr President, I rise to introduce this pivotal bill. While the subject of this bill is quite controversial, my colleagues and i believe very firmly that we must take a stand, and declare an end to the Government's current policy of providing abortion funding. With each fetus that is aborted, we have potentially aborted a brilliant doctor, a great athlete, or perhaps even a future president of Hawu Mumenhes; we have no way of knowing. While the Nationalist recognize and understand that in certain extreme cases abortion may be the necessity, the current government policy makes it too often more desirable an option than it need be. To that end, we Nationalist call upon the Gathering to stand united in defense of our future sons and daughters and guarantee them a chance to add to the beautiful tapestry of our Nation. I yield, |

Message | Beyoncé Hlengiwe Dlamini of Arnak, Federationists Floor Leader Madame President, Let me just say up front that the for me and I know for many of my Federationist colleagues, the fate of a child prior to birth is the responsibility, the choice, the prerogative, and the province of the mother. We recgonize that that authority is given to mothers by the the Goddess Nefre, the Goddess Thmesie, and the Goddess Ehe, and that no power in Terra can rob a woman of that divine authority. However, Madame President, we also recognize that, while it is right that only a mother can and should decide the fate of her child prior to birth, The Free Kingdom is not a land of deprivation or want. We the Body of The God are blessed to live in the bosom of plenty. And so, in the main, the current policy is more symbolic than substantive since few mothers, whether choosing to bring their children to term or not, would ever feel need to take advantage of public monies to support related medical procedures. We do however recognize an exception to the wealth that characterizes our beloved land: here I speak of the Ikradonian Aboriginals and the Foreign Nationals amongst us who have often traveled here seeking refuge from economic deprivation in their homelands. I would ask Latrelle and the Nationalists: do we really want more fatherless, poor Ikradonian Nomads and Luthorian delinquents filling Hawu social service offices? I for one do not. Madame President, because of the contradictions and fraught questions underlying this bill, I have advised Federationist Members of this Gathering to vote according to their conscience or to abstain from the vote altogether. I yield. |

Random fact: It is the collective responsibility of the players in a nation to ensure all currently binding RP laws are clearly outlined in an OOC reference bill in the "Bills under debate" section of the nation page. Confusion should not be created by displaying only some of the current RP laws or displaying RP laws which are no longer current. |
Random quote: "If we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people to not kill each other? Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want." - Mother Teresa of Calcutta quotes |
