Description[?]:
The exchange of information through mail remain a vital element of our economic and social infrastructure. It is a tool by which the public can corrospond, but, this means of communication is being held hostage by the private sector. There is more potential for corruption and the violation of private information, as the system currently doesn't hold the private sector accountable. The public one, because it deals directly with the public and the government, it is held in a greater light and it is more heavily regulated to ensure that our citizens can corrospond through traditional mail without worrying of private sector corruption. Accountability is evident at the public level and it is this accountability that makes it a more trusted means. The private sector has been for too long, able to operate without ethic. It is time to either rid ourselves of this service, as the public sector competantly fulfills the duties, or make the private sector accountable on the same level as the public sector. |

Message | The AM AAP wonders WHY we need an 'unregulated' postal servicce, at all... what advantage is gained by the consumer, in opening up part of the market that has no controls? |

Message | One possible reason is that an unregulated service can operate at a lower cost, due to not having to comply with lots of bureaucratic regulations. For those who would rather let cost drive their decisions, this is a good alternative. For those who feel that a regulated system is somehow superior, the public system exists and should be allowed to remain. |
