Description[?]:

The following constitutional amendment is proposed relating to the royal throne succession law:

Article 1 - the Monarch, being the hereditary head of state, is obliged to choose a successor within the first 12 months of ascending to the throne. This choice is based on a person deemed by the monarch to be the most worthy family member - be that person male or female. The title relating to the Archduchy of Banstill will be bestowed on the heir;

Article 2 - The Monarch is obliged to consult with the Head of Government (known as the Prefect of the Grand Council) and the cabinet before the selection process is finalised. The Prefect has the right to challenge the selection if the candidate is deemed to be unsuitable or a threat to the stability of the nation;

Article 3 - Should the chosen heir die before the reigning monarch, the monarch must choose another successor within 12 months, following the guidelines laid out in Articles 1 and 2; the title relating to the Archduchy of Banstill passes to the new heir;

Article 4 - Should the monarch die before selecting an heir, it is incumbent on the most senior member of the late monarch's noble house (usually referred to as the patriarch or matriarch of the house) to choose a successor following the guidelines laid out in Articles 1 and 2. They may propose themselves or another candidate;

Article 5 - This bill asks for an amendment to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor.

MessageMr Speaker,

Some years ago this constitutional amendment was proposed by my father, Duke Sigzma. It was blocked by the now defunct Communist Party. Following their dissolution, I have decided to propose it again, so that we can add clarification to the Royal Succession law.
