WHEREAS incorporation of genetic material can create potentially harmful scenarios with the regard to "hidden" allergenics, etc. This bill specifically addresses laboratory modification of plant/animal genomes with genetic material from differing species. This does not include natural cross-breeding of plant/animal species. |

Message | If I recall correctly, it was that natural cross-breeds of plants (e.g. corn) would be impossible to categorise, given that that form of "genetic modification" has been done for centuries. This bill completely excludes such crops, thus effectively sidestepping that complication. |

Message | No, it was that most crops like corn are already "contaminated" with GM crops, so it must be assumed that any crops not allowed stringent isolation contain GM plants, and any foods made from them contain GM ingredients. So it's totally unenforceable and redundant. |
