Bill: P.d.l. 07/4413: Legislature Enlargement Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Fronte Democratico - P.L.

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 4414

Description[?]:

Mattia Renzo, President of the FD and Prime Minister of Istalia:

The great variety of parties in our country is good for democracy and freedom of expression, but for some years to now this variety represents a slowdown for the activities of any government as part of the legislature is used for the formation of a government. To ensure a concrete work of the government, this and those that will come, we want to extend the term of legislation from 4 years (48 months) to 5 years (60 months). One more year means giving every Government the chance to propose solutions to the problems of Istalia, solutions that often do not come because of the short term.

MessageLuciano Vespa-Baldassare, PND Leader,

We disagree solely because this legislative term extension would only lead to longer lasting inefficient caretaker governments. We see right now, the left coalition was forced to take the PNI for the majority and basically has no common program, at least at the moment we do not see any internal ddl being proposed - the right would not do it better either. If the government's with so many parties would be more effective we would wholeheartedly agree.

MessageMattia Renzo, President of the Council:

The Government has just taken office, soon the first D.d.l. regarding the Government policies agreed with the PNI will come. We have a program of things to do and the legislative term does not allow us to do it to the end, for that we ask a more year of time, A mandate of 5 years then will favor the next governments.

MessageOOC: I vote against just for a OOCly motivation. I don't think 4 IG years is a too short period of time. Indeed I fear to have 2 more IRL days between an election and another. I foresee me at the opposition waiting for 10 IRL days! Sometime also 8 IRL days seemed never pass when I was at the opposition. I fear this could hurt the gameplay.

MessageOOC: ICly talking about, I could also support a 5 term. In IRL I like this term duration, but we are into a game and we have to balance realism with the gameplay. This is my opinion.
