Bill: Fair Housing Act of October 2198

Details

Submitted by[?]: Proletariat Revolution Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2199

Description[?]:

WHEREAS all citizens of Likatonia deserve a roof over their heads;

WHEREAS not all Likatonians are independantly affluent;

ACKNOWLEDGING that Likatonians all have different finacial situations;

RECOGNISING the need to protect our most vulnerable;

It is hereby proposed that the housing market be controlled by two sectors. By the public for those unable to subsist in the private and with a private system for those who have the affluence to afford such luxuries.

By maintaining a two-tiered system, the government can provide for those who need housing and those who can provide for themselves aren't covered by the government's housing program. This frees up government funds to adequately provide for its most vulerable.

It is for this reason that the government will simply provide housing for the vulerable; those who need it most and allow the affluent to pay their way. It'll help to balance society and allow those who never had the finacial abilities before to live a little better.

This bill also acknowledges that through hardwork; hard won, self-earned and self-reliance, have some of our citizens earned their private households, which exist on private property and it is for this reason that the housing will not all be controlled by the government. It is unfair to control all housing for this reason and it is this reason that this bill moves for the state to simply provide the roof over the heads of its less fortunate.

MessageThe State should control all housing, or no housing. Subsidies to the poor must be paid for out of taxes. That is inefficient and pointless, as they take money from the people to give to the people.

MessageWe pay taxes; we all pay taxes.

It is better to see the taxes get returned to the people in a form that people can see than for it to sit in the treasury.

Plus, if someone has earned a piece of property through hard work and self-relience and all that good old fashion grit, then the government shouldn't control the housing on it.

MessageThe state is providing housing for low income families under the present situation; they are just contracting with private companies to do so. The terms of these contracts are availible for public comment and if the members of the legislature feel that they are not in the best interests of the country, they can move to modify them.

The result of this bill will be economic dislocation with the companies currently contracted going into severs retreanchment mode, or possibly evern shutting down, thereby forcing more people into needing public housing.
