| Madam Speaker, We rise today to propose the following legislation aimed at reforming our nation's gun safety standards. We believe that amending the following amendments to our nation's gun laws will go a step further in ensuring that our nations streets, neighborhoods, and public places are safer while also still respecting the right of the people to arm themselves and carry weapons whether for defensive, security, or even sporting purposes. We would add that we believe the licensing conditions should include mandatory classes on the usage of guns. We'd recommend a minimum of up to 4 hours of gun education in a classroom setting that includes a curriculum covering the different categories of guns, their features, gun safety, proper posturing, proper shooting techniques, and the potential dangers of firearms. We'd recommend also a minimum of 4 separate practical and hands on instruction at a shooting range. We'd recommend also 1 written examination and 1 practical examination before being awarded a license. |
