MessageMadam Speaker,

The Republic is home to many eccentric individuals who truly love exotic animals, and have the means and ability to own them and take care of them. However, the current policy does not allow these individuals to do so. The New Liberal Alliance is proposing a system by which these individuals can apply for a license to own exotic animals and the trade in such animals is regulated by the government. We believe such a system can aid in conservation efforts and be an economic boost for the Republic.

Deputy Dr. Penelope Short
Shadow Environment & Tourism Minister
