| Mutanabbian Law on Tobacco Senators, There is no question that the consumption of tobacco products is very harmful to public health and causes hundreds of thousands of easily preventable deaths each year. The Republican Party has long recognized this threat and we have often moved against the interests of Big Tobacco, with little result. It is time we take a stronger line and introduce a fuller and more comprehensive ban on the consumption and sale of tobacco products. Should this bill pass, the Republic recognizes the harmful effects of tobacco consumption and exposure to tobacco smoke on physical, spiritual, and social health, and will establish the Tobacco Control Office as a government agency dedicated to the eradication of smoking in Selucia. Under this bill the consumption of tobacco shall be absolutely prohibited in the following areas: commercial centers including markets, hotel lobbies, restaurants, and bars, recreation centers, private and public institutions and offices, public transportation, public spaces such as airports, festivals, or taxi stands, and any other area designated by the Tobacco Control Office. Those in charge of these areas are required to display signs prohibiting smoking, comply with inspections, and report offenders to the police. This bill prohibits the cultivation, harvest, manufacture, supply, distribution, and purchase of tobacco and tobacco products throughout the Republic. Individuals may import small amounts of tobacco and tobacco products for personal consumption, under limits set by the Tobacco Control Office, and subject to duties and taxes. The tobacco and tobacco products imported into Selucia must bear proof of taxation, must display required health warnings, and may not include information that is false, misleading, or likely to create an inaccurate impression about its health effects. Advertising, promotion, and sponsorship for tobacco and tobacco products shall be absolutely prohibited, and tobacco and tobacco products may only appear in media produced with the purpose of health promotion. Tobacco and tobacco products may not otherwise be presented in any way in any form of media. The sale of tobacco and tobacco products to any person born after December 31st 4425, or the importation of such products by these persons, is absolutely prohibited. The government is empowered to establish educational agencies dedicated to the promotion of health awareness and the prevention smoking by non-smokers.
