Message | Actually in all fairness, it was agreed earlier in another bill that the age at which someone begins work (if they want to) is 15. |

Message | It isn't making them work. This is simply the professional retirement age. Regardless, a longer working life means more money in the end not only from interest, but simply because more money is put in the system. As for the 15 year olds, that is not the adult age and they choose to work. Most people enjoy the careers they have. They can always retire early and just wait however many years to collect their social security (if we even have such a system in place. As far as we know, there is no such system.) The Protectorate objection is unreasonable and we thank the true protectorates of this Assembly that support this bill. |

Message | We do have such a system as we have a forced retirement plan according to law. We do apologize for our error and the SDL is correct it would be 39 yrs. If people enjoy their careers they can continue to work past the retirement age, which many people will no doubt due. Those who will seek retirement are those in dull, or physically demanding jobs. In this type of job one is physically wearing down their body if they are forced to work for close to 40 yrs before they can retire. This will come back in larger health care issues for the elderly and a shorter life span for our citizens. We hope the MMP are not advocating an early grave for our citizens, just to save a few Phiny. The citizens are putting the money into their retirement accounts and thus we should permit them to take it out when they are ready to retire. we should not be thinking of raising this age, rather lowering it so our citizens are not forced to work more then 35 yrs. |
