Bill: Budgetary Mandate for Sutton

Details

Submitted by[?]: Sutton Nationalist Party | Labour Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 4485

Description[?]:

Mr. Speaker,

It is clear from the failure of the Prime Minister's budget that, despite a well-reasoned, well-negotiated deal for Sutton, Parliament refuses to pay to Sutton what it is required to pay under the Crown Dependency Treaty. I humbly request that the Prime Minister and Minister for finance again attempt the Budget reorganization. Should it fail again, then we will have no choice but to end our relationship with this government and pursue other avenues for the independence of Sutton. A nation cannot govern itself without a budget.

Andrew Macalester
Foreign Minister
Grand Representative

MessageMr Speaker,

I would point out to the honourable Foreign Minister that this is not a failure of myself or the finance minister, rather it is a failure of the Liberal National Party. They failed to vote on the bill which would have seen Sutton finally recieve the money promised to them in the crown depenency treaty.

This party has supported the Sutton Nationalist movement since day one. If the Liberal Nationals continue to not vote on crucial government business, we will find other parties to work with to ensure Sutton gets the money it needs.

Lastly, I consider the Foreign Minister a dear friend and key parliamentary ally. It disappoints me that he would sink to political games like this in order to push forward his agenda. We have always been willing to work with the SNP. As soon as it was brought to my attention that the budgetary section of the Crown Dependency Treaty was not being fulfiled, I instructed the Finance Minister to immediately get to work on a new budget that would ensure Sutton got its money. I am disappointed that the honourable Foreign Minister is throwing our party under the bus for the failure of another party.
