| Sanquinian Law on the Flag Senators, Just like our national anthem, the Republic's flag plays a central role in Republican rites and rituals dedicated to creating committed and virtuous citizens. It stands to reason then that if the flag is to retain its symbolic value and its sacredness it must be protected not only from desecration, but also by the more insidious dishonoring caused by commercialization.
