Description[?]:
Sanquinian Law on Mass Media Senators, As the old adage says, "freedom of the press is guaranteed only to those who own one". In any society inequality of wealth and power is inevitable, and with that inequality comes unequal access to the control, creation, and dissemination of information. Under such circumstances freedom of speech is an illusion, as those with more access to speech enjoy more freedom. And unequal freedom is no freedom at all. In order to promote a democratic and genuinely free press, we must provide all our citizens free access not only to its consumption, but also its creation. We thus propose the establishment of non-profit cooperative principles for all media outlets, with sufficient and impartial government support. Only then will free speech be genuinely guaranteed to all citizens. Nicolaus Sanquinius Senator |
