Bill: Patriotic Reform Act - 4507
Details
Submitted by[?]: Zhtál-Merlkai Tjarziprta
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 4507
Description[?]:
Members of the Grand Council, Following a review of the current political situation and in light of the major electoral successes our party has had over the last two decades - and taking into account the recent constitutional reforms the Ahmadi Alliance has proposed (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=589824) - my cabinet and I have come to the following conclusion: While I reject proposals to return to the one-party system outright, favoured by certain senior members of my government, I do believe that to introduce, or even entertain, further democratic reforms could be dangerous and I see no need at this stage to open up electoral suffrage to any one else or suggest that protest or lobbying will change our minds on this. So, to demonstrate that this Grand Council and this country is not slowly and inexorably falling back into the bad old ways, which will allow socialists, communists and anti-monarchists to receive the vote or have their voices heard by proxy I propose the following series of reforms which are pro-government and will promote patriotism for many generations to come. 1) The introduction of children being made to sing the national anthem each day – to promote their patriotic fervour at a formative age. 2) A clamp down on all media stories – so that they must receive government approval before being published. 3) The introduction of parental qualifications, thus allowing the government to determine whether potential mothers and fathers are too politically radical to be responsible parents without further supervision. 4) I also intend to introduce a reduction of the number of bills that can be debated in this chamber each year – so that we can cut down on the number of sessions Members need to attend, allowing Grand Council members to spend more time in their constituencies, and providing more focus to executive orders and decrees made by myself. Baron Dnkai Dnksrmko Könnyrahe Prefect of Vanuku |

Message | Members of the Grand Council, The people have not spoken. The electorate has spoken, and the electorate, as the Prefect well knows, comprises only a small percentage of the people. Vanuku is not a democracy. Vanuku is a country where the establishment class leads the political system. There is nothing wrong with that system, in our view. It is a very good system. But it does require our leaders to act responsibly, and with the interests of the whole nation at heart. Even at this late stage, we appeal to the Prefect to reconsider these draconian measures. If implemented, they will lead, we fear, to a very difficult and unpleasant situation indeed. Husn Vrkz-Krlmék Leader of the Ám'ádíakai Spjogad |
