Description[?]:
Laecanian Law on Trade Unions Senators, It is shameful and disappointing to see the so-called "left" join in on class warfare from above and attack the rights and interests of the working class. When the Senatorial left voted in favor of the "right to work" legislation proposed by Senator Auxientius they showed their true colors as representatives of the Selucian capitalist class and class warriors against the Republic's laboring classes. The working class has power only when it acts collectively in the defense of its interests and struggles against the power of the bosses and capital, and trade unions are the most potent instrument for the collective power of the working class, the majority of our Republic's population. The "right to work" law allows employees to be free-riders, to benefit from the collective benefits granted by unions without paying for them. As such the "right to work" law is an un-Republican and anti-social liberal individualistic piece of legislation that effectively destroys the common good in favor of an illusory and sham "freedom of choice". The only true guarantee for democracy in Selucia is the collective power and common freedom of the working class. For this reason we call for the abolition of the monstrous "right to work" law and require all employees to be part of two organizations: the governing body of their firm as mandated under current law on democratic worker councils, and industry-wide trade unions. Additionally, in order to enhance the power of unions and grant them the power to carry out their own class struggle against the bosses, unions shall be permitted to launch strikes without the need to hold a ballot. Work stoppage is the single most powerful tool in the hands of the working class, a tool which guarantees popular government and keeps the capitalist oligarchy in check. It is time we return this tool in the hands of the Plebs, so that they once again become the guardians of Republican liberty. Prisca Laecania Iuvenlis Senatrix |
