Bill: Anti Youth Alcoholism plan
Details
Submitted by[?]: Imperial Kalistan Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 2065
Description[?]:
This Senator does not believe that it is wise to keep the current rules. I don't particularly want my kids going into a McDonald's and being able to purchase a beer with their happy meal. What is currently stopping a family-oriented establishment from getting a liquor license to boost sales? NOTHING! |

Message | Firstly the ability for children to drink must still be allowed, regardless of who buys the alcohol. If a parent wishes their child to have a drink, then we should not ban that. Also if the NDP thinks that the licenses are so easy to attain that children are getting beers with happy meals, then we suggest that the NDP draw up legislation to make the licenses harder to get, instead of limiting who those with a license can sell too. |

Message | The FRP fundamentally agrees with the argument of the last speaker. We also want to bring up the fact that the NDP voted for the piece of legislation it is currently attempting to repeal. |

Message | "the ability for children to drink must still be allowed" It IS still allowed. Except that, under the proposed new rules, only adults may PURCHASE alcohol. |

Message | But, for that matter, will you please explain the logic behind your statement that "the ability for children to drink must still be allowed"? Are you suggesting that alcohol is GOOD for children? |

Message | In theory, yes. Because, honestly, they WILL drink when they grow up. If their parents permit them to have measured, perhaps diluted, amounts of alcohol as teenagers (the preferable age of beginning of alcoholic intake), then they may grow up with a stronger system and a better tolerance for alcohol, as well as a better knowledge of their limits. |
