It is the responsibility of the State to ensure that free speech is protected without fear of prosecution or any other harm. Blasphemy laws violate the human right to freedom of expression, protect religious beliefs and practices, institutions and leaders, from legitimate and often necessary criticisms, and legitimize vigilantism, mob violence, and persecution of minorities. A vote against this bill is a vote AGAINST free speech. |
