| We believe that life is precious, even those who commit heinous crimes have a right to life and so we put forward an act to abolish the death penalty. 1.) We note that upon death the ability for a person to understand the severity of their crime and to be justly punished by the removal of their liberty is taken away, as in death they cannot feel remorse, guilt, shame or experience the hardship of a life without freedom. 2.) We also note that any hope that a person may be rehabilitated or to give back to the society they have wronged is also removed. 3.) There are also times when our courts are not always 100% correct, and in such cases death cannot simply be overturned, thus innocent people may die for no reason whatsoever. It is surely too high a cost. We urge senate to pass this act. |
