Message | It should be acting in the promotion of Vanukian interests. There is a very good reason to permit covert operations, namely that we may one day need to use them to obtain an advantage that we cannot through overt action. Subject to legislative, executive and judicial oversight, our intelligence agencies must have latitude to do whatever circumstances dictate. Plus, its always good to find out about a fellow head of government in a compromising position - i heard a story somewhere that the British were able to get an advantage in some EU negotiations in the 70s or 80s after finding out about a foreign minister's indescretions. (Note this story may be apocryphal) |

Message | And it can cost the head of the government, if there is a scandal.... |
Date | 12:27:41, March 29, 2006 CET | From | Liberal Democrat Party | To | Debating the Intelligence agency reform |
Message | The LDP cannot support this bill at this time. The world is a terrible place at this time with conflict and terror and we believe that we need to be proactive in preventing these events from occuring here rather then reactive for when they take place. |

Random fact: Players have a responsibility to differentiate between OOC (out-of-character) and IC (in-character) behaviour, and to make clear when they are communicating in OOC or IC terms. Since Particracy is a role-playing game, IC excesses are generally fine, but OOC attacks are not. However, players must not presume this convention permits them to harass a player with IC remarks that have a clear OOC context. |
Random quote: "I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality.... I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word." - Martin Luther King, Jr. |
