Message | The Head of Government is largely symbolic and has little duties beyond that of a national spokesman. As such HLEŁ500m should adequately cover his salary and that of his supporting staff. Likewise, spending HLEŁ2,500m just on counting the beans is wasteful. The Treasury's budget will be halved through computerisation and other measures improving efficiency. These small cuts will enable the Chancellor to announce further tax cuts. Ministers are welcome to find ways to save money and reduce their department's budgets as well. The Secretary of State for Food and Agriculture, however, needs his budget to provide subsidies to organic farmers. This is the only way to achieve price parity with non-organic produce: thus offering the consumer a genuine choice based on health, taste and preference - not cost. |
