Bill: Smoking Regulations
Details
Submitted by[?]: Freedom Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 2066
Description[?]:
My reasons are simple. I want to know if parties are willing to support this change. I am for civil liberties but i also believe citizens have a right not to breathe in second hand smoke. I believe this infringes on the civil liberties of non-smokers if they have to breathe in other people's smoke. I would allow people to smoke but only in their own homes so they do not infringe the liberties of non-smokers. I would like to see the opinions of others on this issue. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Government policy towards smoking.
Old value:: Smoking is legal everywhere, at the discretion of the property owner, but is illegal in government-owned buildings.
Current: Smoking is legal outdoors and in private homes and clubs, but illegal indoors in all places of employment.
Proposed: Smoking is legal outdoors and in private homes and clubs, but illegal indoors in places of employment, with the exception of places that primarily serve liquor.

Date | 18:14:08, June 10, 2005 CET | From | Libertarian Alcoholic Par-tay | To | Debating the Smoking Regulations |
Message | Smoking in public is a right which we feel Rutanians should have. The LAP will fight for complete non-regulation in both purchase and consumption of tobacco. |
Date | 18:18:18, June 10, 2005 CET | From | Freedom Party | To | Debating the Smoking Regulations |
Message | What about the freedoms and rights of Rutanians to not breathe in second hand smoke? |
Date | 18:20:35, June 10, 2005 CET | From | RSDP - Democratic Front | To | Debating the Smoking Regulations |
Message | Indeed, prohibiting smoking in public locations is a sensible and justified restriction on the rights of citizens in order to protect the rights of other citizens (that right being not to get lung cancer from passive smoking). |
