Bill: Winter Promises I - Recognition of North Seleyan Folk Religions

Details

Submitted by[?]: Prince-Republican League - New EAPP

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 4617

Description[?]:

In the lead-up to the 4616 elections, EAPP adopted a two-part model for their election campaign. The first, generally far more restrained half dealt with the question of the non-Hosianic so-called „folk“ religions and their place in Lodamese society.
Their recognition which, although from the perspective of EAPP stood mostly as an excuse to pander to their core voter base, was also a quite grounded extention of religious rights to what was becoming a major religious group in Lodamun and a piece of law EAPP was uncharacteristically ready to negotiate and compromise on to ensure it getting through.

Following is the widely distributed provisional version of the proposed document:

Acknowledging their historic importance, the Great Democratic Republic of Lodamun hereby recognizes „Kregonian folk religions“ as a distinct group of religious beliefs exclusively native to North Seleya in general and Lodamun specifically. As such the following faiths are officially accepted as part of the Lodamese cultural heritage:
-The strains of Kregonian neo-animist witchcraft
-Jahmaikan mountain denominations
-Lodamese Esoteric Elderpath
-Lodamese-Likatonian forest polytheism
-Neo-Shadowist schools of belief
-Kregonian Auroch Cult
-High Temple of Lindar
... [Etc, etc]

Alongside the cultural-political concessions the state of Lodamun will also expand the financial freedoms the local communities have to advance such forementioned spiritual expressions of native culture AND leave much of the business of conserving regional heritage to be done by those regional societies themselves.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We AFL (formerly NAP) would like to first remind EAPP gentlemen, our decades-old coalition agreements are still in effect, this includes EAPP's pledge that its decentralization efforts will not threaten our national cohesion, in return, we will support their efforts as long as they will not upset our voters, we have long acted in accordance of these agreements. Nevertheless, all zero AFL deputies will vote against this bill on the grounds that it not only threatens our national cohesion by bringing multicultural practices into our government institution, but also forces us to break our promises to electorate by keeping museums public. We urge EAPP to stand by its original beliefs and work with us to revive the traditional hierarchical Lodamese society, instead of bringing nonsense into this building, thank you.

MessageMr. Speaker,

EAPP in all of their reasonableness would like to be certain of a majority support for the bill before putting it on vote. We would also like to emphasize that *on this rare occasion* we're ready to compromise or make deals.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Our party opposes this bill on grounds that we believe the state should not be involved with religion. We believe the people should be free to follow whatever religion they choose or lack therefore of, without endorsement or intervention from the state for or against any specific religion.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Like the representatives coming before us, we dont think wasting tax Money on upholding Religion is a good idea, be they traditional or not.

MessageMr. Speaker,

I have to remind my respectable Liberal colleagues that they have previously agreed to vote in favour of this bill during the cabinet vote. We believe it would be unfortunate if Liberals can’t keep their promise and thus let our partners’ tremendous bill fail, and may proceed with a non-confidence vote in the event of the bill’s defeat caused by Liberal opposition.
