Description[?]:
Whereas, the current minimum income provides only a subsistence amount. Wheras, this leads to greater poverty, as people are unable to fund their search for a new job, their family and their transport, et cetera. Therefore, the provision of minimum income must be raised to support more people and their families, and to enable them to get onto the job market. |

Message | The DLP believes it is time for better provision for the worst off in our nation. Better provision increases the likelihood these people will get jobs. It ensures they can support their families. Poverty is the biggest cause of crime, drug abuse, suicide and depression all over Terra. Let us eliminate it here in the Free Republic of Jelbania. |

Message | There are several reasons a good welfare system is essential to any country. Firstly: it is important people are able to get work. With no or little money in benefit, people often find it difficult to support their family, or even themselves, whilst looking for a job. Often, these people will turn to illegal methods to raise money. Sometimes, they will begin working in the black economy, from which we receive no tax. Secondly: It is important to maintain the health of the nation. This is essential. If you will not consider that good welfare is for the public and is a good thing, remember a healthy nation has a good workforce of employable workers, essential for the economy. It also has a good pool from which to draw recruits for the army, navy and air force - essential for defence. Therefore, we ask the parliament of Jelbania to support this bill and get it passed into law. |

Message | The Citizens Party tried to implement this many years ago but failed. We completely approve of this effort by the DLP. |
