Bill: Strike Action (De-regulation) 2209
Details
Submitted by[?]: Jelbék Zemojad Lofrkad Prta
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2210
Description[?]:
Whereas: The present system limits a Trade Union's right to strike by limiting sympathy or secondary strike action to closely related industries. Therefore: All Unions should be guaranteed the right to strike in a secondary or co-ordinated action with another union. Furthermore: The Government of the Free Republic of Jelbania shall empower a single body, such as a Trades Union Congress to ensure that any secondary strike action taken is done reasonably, through proper democratic procedure and after all other routes to resolution have failed (i.e. negotiation, settlement). |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Secondary strike action.
Old value:: Only closely related trade unions can walk out on a sympathy strike in support of other striking workers.
Current: Secondary strike action is illegal. Workers and unions can only go on strike for their own pay and conditions.
Proposed: Any trade union can go on a sympathy strike in support of other striking workers.

Message | The DLP feels this bill is necessary to protect the rights of the vast majority of our citizens who are members of one or more trade unions. The DLP also feels it is necessary to ensure those Trade Unions that already exist are able to operate as freely as is necessary to protect the rights, jobs, working conditions and wages of their members. |
